Course Description
Maintaining good mental health is key to protecting you from the impacts of trauma and stress. In this course, you focus on the proactive steps you can take to improve your mental health and remain healthy in a challenging environment.
In this course, you will acquire a set of personal resilience tools to help you overcome both trauma and the stigma related to trauma and mental health issues. This includes techniques such as mental rehearsal and arousal management; perspective; self-defeating thoughts; empathy; wins and losses; goal setting; and reaching out (including the role of social support and workplace supervisors). In addition, you’ll delve into other techniques like relaxation and general stress management that help to bolster resilience.
You will learn the psychological responses to acute and chronic stresses and various ways to mitigate the possible long-term negative consequences, of not dealing with such stressors in a healthy way. Resiliency can be learned and practiced regularly through various means and by the end of this course; you will have learned numerous techniques to choose from that will best suit your needs.
