Course Description
Copy editing delves into the level of sentences and language to make good writing even better. It eliminates errors in spelling and punctuation, addresses grammatical problems and applies a consistent editorial style. This course is for people who want to develop the skills to copy edit professional, academic or personal documents.
You’ll learn how to identify an appropriate editorial style for the intended readership, prepare a style sheet, align text with editorial style conventions and employ best practices for communicating with writers. To apply your skills, you’ll complete assignments based on non-fiction texts aimed at a general readership.
The final assignment for this course is due two weeks after the course ends.
