Course Description

This course is offered through the SFU's Institute for Environmental Learning, and takes place in Skidegate and Masset (Haida Gwaii, BC). Please see the course page for more information. 

Recommended experience: 3 years of undergraduate work in an environment or sustainability-related field or teacher certification.
 

Important Travel Information

Students are responsible for arranging their own travel to Skidegate, BC; however, on-island transportation will be provided during the course experiences. Accommodations during the program are basic and may involve camping outdoors.  Participants should bring along sleeping bag and matt, small tent, and appropriate clothing for outdoor experiences.

  • All requests to drop or withdraw from the course must be sent in writing to learn@sfu.ca before June 30, 2026.
  • Refunds before June 30, 2026 are subject to a 20% administrative fee (max. $200 per course).
  • Drop and withdrawal requests after June 30, 2026 are not eligible for a refund.
